Chattanooga, Tenn. (PRWEB) April 23, 2014

Decosimo, a Top 100 regional public accounting and advisory firm, announced that Brian Joyce recently earned the designation of Certified Common Security Framework Practitioner from the Health Information Trust Alliance (HITRUST).

As the Director of Information Technology and Security for Decosimo, Mr. Joyce oversees all aspects of the firm’s IT needs, including planning, design and implementation of network systems. He is also responsible for overseeing client and server-side applications and security analysis.

The Common Security Framework (CSF) is the most widely adopted information security criteria in the U.S. healthcare industry. The HITRUST CSF Assurance Program is the most commonly utilized program for assessing the security posture of business associates and managing third-party compliance.

For those professionals seeking certification under CSF, the HITRUST Academy offers the only training courses designed to educate healthcare security professionals about information protection in the healthcare industry and the utilization of the HITRUST CSF to manage risk. The courses are intended to prepare security professionals for assessing against the evolving compliance landscape shaped by HITECH, HIPAA, CMS and various other federal, state and business requirements.

“With the advent of HIPAA and other policies, the healthcare industry has made information security one of its top business priorities, and working within the Common Security Framework is an important part of our firm’s service to our healthcare clients,” said Nick Decosimo, firm-wide Managing Principal. “In becoming a certified practitioner under the CSF, Brian Joyce once again demonstrated his dedication to continuing education and his service to our clients. We know that our clients will benefit from the knowledge and expertise that Brian gained in going through this certification process.”

Mr. Joyce leads Decosimo’s HIPAA compliance risk assessment services offered to healthcare entities and the various business associates of healthcare entities who must comply with the complex HIPAA Security, Privacy and Breach Notification Rule or face stiff monetary penalties.

In addition to the CSF, Mr. Joyce holds the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium’s (ISC2) highest designation, the CISSP certificate. He also has earned several Global Information Assurance Certifications (GIAC). Certified Incident Handler (GCIH), Security Essentials (GSEC) and the Critical Infrastructure Protection (GCIP) are among the designations Mr. Joyce has gained through his continuing education efforts.
