Small Investment Advisory Firm Finds Creative Way to Raise Over $100,000 for Charity
Kauai, Hawaii (PRWEB) April 23, 2014 -- Classical music fans raised over $32,000 for Kaua’i United Way at the fifth-annual Kaua’i Classics concerts on March 29 and 30. The concerts, sponsored by Personal Financial, featured four musicians from New York’s Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.
“This year’s concerts were a tremendous success,” said Loren Kayfetz, President of Personal Financial. “As a musician myself, I’m always thrilled to welcome world-class artists to our community. The fact that their performance helps support so many important local organizations makes it that much more enjoyable.”
Since 2010, the Kaua’i Classics concerts have raised $113,000 for Kaua’i United Way, which in turn funds 30 agencies with 80 unduplicated social service programs on the island. Local organizations that have benefited include Kaua’i Hospice, the YWCA of Kaua’i, Malama Pono Health Services, the Boys and Girls Clubs and many others.
“Loren and I were inspired to organize the Kaua’i Classics concerts for three reasons,” said Pat Pannell, CEO of Personal Financial. “First, we wanted to find a way to increase the donor base for the United Way. Second, we wanted to create an opportunity for the community to experience the type of world-class classical music that is usually reserved for the major concert halls of the world. Third, we wanted to give young people the chance to have the potentially life-changing experience of live virtuoso music.”
“Classical music is a passion of mine, and I am always excited to present it to others on Kauai who share that love, or may be experiencing it, in person, for the first time,” added Kayfetz, himself a semi-professional flute and piccolo player who performs with several ensembles. He’s also an advisor to the Contra Costa Wind Symphony Board, President of the Walnut Creek Concert Band and a director of Kauai United Way.
Personal Financial organizes and funds the event. “Our goal has always been to make it easy for the United Way. We want them focused on serving agencies, not organizing another fundraiser,” said Pannell. “The only expense paid by the United Way is the cost of food for the paid attendees. We cover all other expenses.” The event also receives significant in-kind support for hotel rooms, concert venues, car rentals, and many other services needed to produce the event.
Most of the funds raised from the event come from live auction bids for performance-themed trips to San Francisco, New York and Europe. Personal Financial funds the travel portion of all of the trips and works as the travel agent to the lucky auction winners.
The company’s commitment to helping the local Kaua’i community aligns perfectly with its business philosophy, which is built on the idea that people often need a helping hand to achieve their financial goals.
“Kaua’i Classics is close to my heart because it represents an intersection of two passions: the well-being of the people of our garden island and classical music,” said Scott N. Giarman, Executive Director, Kaua’i United Way. “I’m grateful for the generous support of Loren, Pat and everyone at Personal Financial over the years. Their efforts truly help to make our island a better place for all our residents.”
