Sandee Ferman, founder, recalls the first Earth Day. “I heard about Earth Day in 1970 and took part in the inaugural activities. It ignited a desire to do something beneficial for the Earth, and to protect it and the people on it, for all time.” She remembers the struggle to get others to reduce, reuse and recycle. “It was hard to get agreement back then. Things ended up in the trash that could be recycled. If someone wanted something new, they just threw away perfectly good articles. It was not like today.”
Ferman acknowledges the strides we’ve made as a society and the benefits of recycling and what is now called upcycling (taking items and using them again in new ways). "We recycle containers for our soaps, such as using milk cartons for soap molds, and we embed soap designs within other soaps." Colors for the soaps come from minerals and other natural sources, and the products are scented with essential oils and other natural fragrances. One of No Tox's most popular soaps, Mountain Rainbow, uses six different colors derived from minerals, herbs, and flowers. Another popular product, Mountain Soft Body Crème, uses only two main ingredients with a special citrus and lavender scent that customers adore.
No Tox Body-Home-Life will be available in person on May 4 at the annual Ladies With Babies convention at 35 S. Raymond Avenue, Pasadena, CA, from 11:00 - 4:00. Items will be on display and can be purchased at that event.
