Water to Thrive
...By putting a well in a community, life changes dramatically for these young girls. The entire community changes for the better.

Clifton Park, N.Y. (PRWEB) April 22, 2014

Annese & Associates, Inc., in participation with Saratoga Springs based St. Clements School, is very proud to support the Springs for Life Campaign which benefits Water to Thrive; a not-for-profit faith based 501C3 organization which commits to bringing clean water to the people of rural Africa.

Water to Thrive has a simple mission: To transform lives through the gift of clean water. The foundation seeks to raise money toward the construction of clean well systems. At the cost of $5,000 per well, each system can support a village of up to 500 people.

Water to Thrive notes:

  •     Every 15 seconds, a child dies because of a lack of clean drinking water. That’s 6,000 children per day, or 2 million per year.
  •     The daily minimum water requirement for sanitation, bathing, and cooking needs, as well as for survival, is about 13.2 gallons per person. An American taking a 5-minute shower uses more water than a person living in a developing country uses in an entire day.
  •     Women and children are forced to walk for hours EVERY DAY to get dirty water. This is called the Walk for Water. They carry the water in jerry-cans on their backs, which weigh 40–60 pounds when full.
  •     Children who are doing this Walk for Water with their mothers miss out on the chance for an education. Instead of going to school, they walk for hours each day and carry heavy water jugs back home to their families.

“A big eye opener for me was the fact that the responsibility of gathering water for the family in Africa falls on the shoulders of women and young girls. Prior to having access to a local community well, women and girls spend the majority of their day traveling to bring dirty water home to their family and therefore do not have the opportunity to attend school or learn a skill to be employable. By putting a well in a community, life changes dramatically for these young girls. The entire community changes for the better,” said Francine Annese Apy, Vice President of Human Resources at Annese, a certified Women Owned Business Enterprise.

Water to Thrive guarantees 100% of all funds raised go to the construction of wells and has a proven track record of completing over 400 wells in three African countries.

The Annese Well is dedicated to the son of Joe and Yvonne Annese LoRe, who passed away in November, 2013. The plaque reads:

In Loving Memory of Frank LoRe
