Announcement: BluesGuitar.com Releases “E7 Blues Guitar Lick With Slide Technique - Blues Guitar Lesson”
(PRWEB) April 23, 2014 -- The origins of slide playing have been traced back to single string African instruments. A slide can be made of steel, glass, porcelain, ceramic, or any flat smooth object and is usually designed to be worn on the finger of the fretting hand. Slide guitar became a staple of the blues guitar sound early on; first being recorded in 1923 by Sylvester Weaver. The slide is pressed against the strings, lightly parallel to the frets without touching them, so that pitch can be continuously changed by sliding up and down the fingerboard without touching the frets.
Jon demonstrates this easy blues guitar lick using a slide in the key of E based on a E7 chord as follows; start by sliding into the 12th fret of the 2nd string from below and then playing both the first and 2nd strings simultaneously at the 12th fret three times, played as triplets. “You can do it the way I am using hybrid picking or you can use the pick,” says MacLennan, “and get some really different sounds.” Next Jon slides into the 8th fret of the 2nd string twice and then to the 9th fret, then the 7th fret and then finishes off the lick by playing the 9th fret of the 3rd string twice. Guitar TAB’s are available for this easy blues guitar lesson at BluesGuitar.com.
