Company to showcase specimen-tracking technology at CLMA KnowledgeLab, the leading conference & exhibition for clinical laboratory professionals

Pevco, a U.S. manufacturer focused exclusively on pneumatic tube systems for hospitals, today announced that Pevco Link™, the company’s technology for tracking lab specimens and blood products sent through a pneumatic tube system, can seamlessly share data with a hospital’s laboratory information system.

Pevco Link is a tablet-like touch control for pneumatic tube system stations. It provides intuitive functions, a bright color display, a built-in directory of station addresses, and easy-to-access transaction data. With Pevco Link, nurses and lab personnel can securely send and receive lab specimens through the tube system with the touch of a button. With its integrated barcode reader, Pevco Link lets users accurately track any barcode-labeled medical item and the carriers that transport them.

Pevco Link’s integration with laboratory information systems is significant because it reduce errors and shortens cycle times so results get to nurses and physicians as quickly as possible.

The tube system transaction data captured by Pevco Link is stored in an SQL database. As a result, it integrates easily with other databases, including those used in laboratory information systems. “We understand that our customers don’t want to use multiple vendor interfaces during their workday,” Pevco President Fred Valerino, Jr. said. “Like all of our solutions, Pevco Link was designed to be reliable and simple, so healthcare staff have more time to focus on their jobs.”

Pevco will showcase Pevco Link at booth #417 at the Clinical Laboratory Managers Association (CLMA) KnowledgeLab, which runs from May 4 – 7 at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

Founded in 1976, CLMA is an international association of nearly 3,000 clinical laboratory professionals. The association educates and advocates on behalf of members, and plays a leadership role in enhancing the image and increasing the visibility of the laboratory management profession.
