U.S. Security Associates Springs Into Earth Week
ATLANTA, Georgia (PRWEB) April 23, 2014 -- As cities all over the world host events this week marking the 44th celebration of Earth Day, U.S. Security Associates (USA) joins over one billion people in 192 countries taking action to protect the planet. At client sites, in 160 branch offices, and at corporate headquarters, employees of the security company are committed to “going green.”
In Savannah, GA, USA is partnering with a major distribution center customer to operate a large-scale green program on site. In this humid southern city, USA security officers and client employees alike are choosing to do without air conditioning year-round when possible, even during the sweltering summer months. USA security officers support the site’s green program as part of their duties by sorting recyclable paper and packaging materials and placing them in designated bins for pickup.
At one of USA’s earth-conscious branch office locations, the employees plan a green activity each year to celebrate Earth Week. This year, employees agreed to plant a tree as their yearly “act of green.” However, the branch’s leasing agreement prevents changes to landscaping on the rental company property. Not to be swayed from their mission, employees are planting a seedling tree in an indoor planter that can move with them, should the office re-locate.
USA’s national security company headquarters is located in an Energy Star building, certified by the U.S. Green Building Council. Prime parking is available for those who carpool. The company operates recycling programs at corporate headquarters and in security services offices from coast to coast. The corporate office participates in Earth Hour, a worldwide event held annually at the end of March, where individuals, communities, and businesses turn off non-essential lights for one hour as a symbol of their commitment to the planet.
Additional initiatives under USA’s company-wide environmental impact program include migrating the current patrol fleet from purely gas to hybrid electric, exploring bio-fuel vehicle options, and using patented technology and intranet resources that eliminate the need for paper reporting and reference tools and enable virtual security officer training and supervision.
Chuck Schneider, USA’s president and CEO, believes environmental stewardship goes hand-in-hand with the security function. “As a security company, we are charged with protecting not only people and property, but also our environment. We set targets for reducing environmental impact as a company, independently within our individual branch offices, and in conjunction with our clients’ green initiatives. We see a commitment to environmental improvement as a natural extension of our mission.”
