BQuSAMS, a student attendance management system developed by BQu, is designed to provide Education providers with solutions to manage student attendance and engagement, and at the same time adhering to compliance with economic and policy requirements such as UKBA Tier 4 Compliance in the UK.
BQuSAMS has recently launched its Application Programming Interface (API) to enhance the system features enabling better solutions to be created for the education industry. These new set of functions and procedures will enable the developers to integrate third party system with BQuSAMS which will allow to read and write student, course and timetable information. It will also allow input device systems to be written to the application.
Data in student information, attendance log, course and module information, and timetable data to be accessed and called through the BQuSAMS API.
The API is invaluable for any party interested in creating integrated solutions combining student administration, engagement capture and instant targeted communication with the student body. The API is developed using the REST API standard and hosted on dedicated servers with load balancing, giving support for over 300,000 requests at a time. Data can be extracted from BQuSAMS into existing internal systems and data can be written into BQuSAMS system from third party systems.
One of the most pressing issues many institutes have when switching to a new system is seeing how far it can be linked with existing systems in order to reduce costs. The current BQuSAMS system simplifies and improves data gathering through automated processes and flexibility with multiple data input options. The new API will enable further cost saving for institutions through creating a link with other systems and remove the need to change existing systems or input data twice.
A good Student Attendance Management System (SAMS) will produce accurate data to evidence the engagement and progress made by their students and enable tailored reporting and immediate communication with students to resolve any issues that might be arising.
A further benefit is that the system’s real time reporting, which enables staff to easily identify students whose attendance and engagement is below expectation immediately. They can then make effective intervention to work with the students concerned and provide appropriate support and encouragement to get them back on track.
This has a profound positive effect on student engagement and retention, which greatly improves revenues. It also leads to improvements in the numbers of students completing and obtaining their qualification, which enhances the reputation of the institution.
The SAMS also enables institutions to fulfil their requirements for Tier 4 licence compliance for tracking student’s attendance and study engagement and to be able to quickly provide evidence if required. This can be an enormously time consuming, costly and inefficient process, which often fails to deliver the necessary information needed to comply.
