My approach is hands on. I want all of my patients to have good outcomes and know that I care.
Norfolk, Va. (PRWEB) April 23, 2014
Tidewater Physical Therapy is pleased to announce that it has named Pete Elser, PT, MSPT, OSC the Clinical Director of its Kempsville location in Norfolk, Va.
Located in the Halifax Building across from the Sentara Leigh Hospital at 6161 Kempsville Circle, the Kempsville clinic features comprehensive physical therapy services, an orthopedic clinical specialist, Temporomandibular Disorders treatment programs, pain management, dry needling, balance and fall prevention, custom orthotics and Wii-hab.
Elser earned his Bachelors and Masters of Science degrees from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA and has been practicing physical therapy for fourteen years.
“Physical therapy becomes both science and art because every patient has different needs,” Elser said. “I believe that clinical experience, research-based practice and interpersonal relationships are all vital to meet those needs. My approach is hands on. I want all of my patients to have good outcomes and know that I care.”
“Knowing that patients can heal better and faster when they can get into a physical therapy clinic in a place that’s convenient and at a time that works around their schedule has long been a key part of Tidewater Physical Therapy’s dedication to clinical excellence and the core of its belief in access,” said Jeff Verhoef, PT, MBA.
It’s why Elser’s Kempsville clinic is one of seven Tidewater Physical Therapy locations in South Hampton Roads (Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and Smithfield) and located near the five clinics on the Peninsula (Newport News and Hampton) and three in Western Tidewater (Suffolk, Franklin and Windsor).
“Access, which means being open early, late and through lunch, as well as being conveniently located in areas where people live and work, is absolutely a driver for us,” said Verhoef, Tidewater Physical Therapy’s Chief Executive Officer. “Research shows that the sooner we can involve a patient in an active, dynamic physical therapy program – get them access to therapy – the better chance they have for successful outcomes.”
The Kempsville clinic is open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Tidewater Physical Therapy is also “providers for every major insurance company except one,” Verhoef said.

ABOUT TIDEWATER PHYSICAL THERAPY:
Founded in 1986, Tidewater Physical Therapy remains a physical therapist-owned, independent, outpatient physical therapy practice, with more than 30 locations across Southeast and Central Virginia and three Performance Centers.
Physical therapists (PTs) are health care professionals who diagnose and treat individuals of all ages, from newborns to older adults, with medical problems or other health-related conditions that limit their abilities to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives.
PTs examine each individual and develop a plan using treatment techniques to promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability. In addition, PTs work with individuals to prevent the loss of mobility before it occurs by developing fitness- and wellness-oriented programs for healthier and more active lifestyles.
Physical therapists provide care for people in a variety of settings, including hospitals, private practices, outpatient clinics, home health agencies, schools, sports and fitness facilities, work settings, and nursing homes. State licensure is required in each state in which a physical therapist practices.
