Carolyn founded Going Global Matters to help associations and other nonprofits develop international strategies and plans that are sustainable and relevant to the organization’s stakeholders. Previously, she served as the international activities director for the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), and before that, as director of industry and government affairs at the National Glass Association.

Carolyn holds a master’s degree in association management from George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree in business administration and economics from The King's College. She is a certified association executive and a member of ASAE, The Center for Association Leadership.

Carolyn serves as a volunteer leader with The Joshua Fund, an organization that provides humanitarian relief to needy individuals in the Middle East. She and her husband, Tim Lugbill, have two sons and live in Fairfax, Va.
