Magnus Racing Wins ‘Team to Win’ Award for Strong Sebring Effort; Nominations Following Long Beach Announced
Daytona Beach, FL (PRWEB) April 23, 2014 -- Microsoft has presented its second installment of the Visual Studio Team to Win Award to Magnus Racing, following the team’s performance in the 62nd Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh from Florida in March. The award is given to the team best demonstrating teamwork during each 2014 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship race. Magnus Racing was one of four teams nominated for the award, and was declared the winner by the fan voting component of the contest. The announcement was made to the team during pre-race ceremonies for the Tequila Patron Sports Car Showcase at Long Beach.
Visual Studio, Microsoft’s application development software, continues its involvement in motorsports after sponsoring the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series event at Road Atlanta in 2013. The “Team to Win” theme that reflects the software’s collaborative development focus has found a great analogy in the tremendous teamwork required of world-class sports car racing.
“The TUDOR United SportsCar Championship stands as one of the great showcases for teamwork,” said Matt Nunn, Director, Developer Tools Product Marketing. “The ability to harness the power of individuals to achieve a common goal is at the heart of every great on-track performance. Teams of software developers need that same ability, and a great set of tools, when collaborating on new products. Visual Studio is pleased to work with IMSA to recognize the fundamentals of teamwork that we know is key to any winning effort.”
Microsoft’s involvement includes a cash prize to be awarded to the leading vote getters following each event. Four teams will be chosen by a panel of experts following each race and fans can choose the winner from those nominees. The third set of nominees, chosen from the Tequila Patron Sports Car Showcase at Long Beach, demonstrated exceptional teamwork on one of the country's most famous street circuits.
The nominees are:
1) Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates
2) Corvette Racing
3) Spirit of Daytona Racing
4) Action Express Racing
Fans can vote through 12:00 p.m. EDT Friday, May 2, 2014, at http://on.wsj.com/1opQK6W. The winner will be announced at the famed Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix Powered by Mazda. Details on the award and on each selected team can also be found at the website.
