57 Children Attending Camp AmeriLife: Complex-Wide Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day
Clearwater, FL (PRWEB) April 23, 2014 -- Scores of AmeriLife's subsidiaries' employees' children – ranging in age from 8 to 18 – will spend a workday with their parents tomorrow, participating in the 21st annual Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day.
Nearly 60 children (representing dozens of parents) registered for Camp AmeriLife, the theme of this year’s Take Our Sons and Daughters to Work Day. The youngsters will get Camp AmeriLife T-shirts and bandanas to wear as they learn about their parents' jobs, tour the three-story, 77,000-square-foot AmeriLife Place complex, participate in workshops and group activities, and have an outdoor, camp-style picnic lunch with their parents.
Depending on the age groupings, the children will have an activity hour filled with arts and crafts and games either before or after lunch before “shadowing” their parents or a mentor from 2 to 3 p.m.
AmeriLife's CEO Timothy O. North will see five of his six daughters spend Thursday, April 24, learning about the many insurance-related activities of the Clearwater-based company, the largest annuity, life and health insurance marketing group in America.
Take Our Daughters…was designed as a career-exposure day, but it goes well beyond the average shadowing of a parent's job. Exposing children to a parent’s daily responsibilities lets them see for themselves the value of education, helping them discover the power of a balanced work and family life.
Upon morning registration, each child (32 age 8-11; 16 age 12-14; 9 age 15-18) will be given a Camp AmeriLife tote bag, a personalized name badge and a flashlight, among other camp-related items. After breakfast, the employee’s children will participate in camp-themed activities mimicking insurance and business functions, such as developing a camp customer care center and recruiting campers and volunteers.
The Camp AmeriLife Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day activities conclude at 3 p.m. Thursday.
