Williamsburg, VA (PRWEB) April 24, 2014 -- The Pavilion at Williamsburg Place, a Virginia-based psychiatric hospital, has announced the appointment of Dr. David Weber as Acute Unit Psychiatrist. The Pavilion has been at the forefront of reforming the Virginia mental health system and Dr. Weber’s appointment is one of several key changes designed to better serve the psychiatric needs of the region.
“Dr. Weber is an exceptional addition and brings incredible and diverse experience to our medical team,” stated Dr. Dhillon, Associate Medical Director at the Pavilion. “His focus on working within the armed forces will be a critical component in providing state-of-the-art psychiatric treatment to the many soldiers returning home to Virginia in need of care.”
Weber began his military career in the U.S. Navy as an F-14 Tomcat Pilot, flying in the first Gulf War and accumulating one thousand, five hundred flight hours and 300 carrier landings. He then attended medical school at Southern Illinois University receiving his Medical Doctorate before attending a Transitional Internship at the National Naval Medical Center. Having received his Master’s in Public Health from Harvard University, Dr. Weber was selected for a residency in Aerospace and Preventive Medicine before serving as Navy Fleet Medical Officer with the United States Marines. After completing his second residency in Psychiatry at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, he was then able to apply his skills in both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom before serving most recently as Military Director and Brain Injury Medical Psychiatrist at the National Intrepid Center of Excellence in Traumatic Brain Injury.
“We are at a critical juncture with regards to our mental health system,” explained Dr. Weber. “It is exciting to be at the center of it all where we can so meaningfully affect lives.”
