Airline team at Alexir hail WTCE 2014 a resounding success
(PRWEB UK) 28 April 2014 -- The airline team from the Alexir Partnership exhibited for the second year running at the world's largest business event dedicated to travel catering, passenger comfort and onboard retail - World Travel Catering & Onboard Services Expo (WTCE). The exhibition hosted over fifty new exhibitors at the Hamburg Messe, Germany when the show opened from 8-10 April 2014. This year witnessed an increase in the number of new companies wanting to break into the onboard services sector as it is set to see record growth; the airline sector alone is expecting a rise of 31 per cent in passenger demand by 2017 according to a recent IATA industry forecast.
This year the Alexir Partnership presented the four arms of the business to visitors on their stand, including design, manufacture, sourcing and co-packing. The Alexir Partnership is the only UK owned company that offers a complete ‘design to delivery’ service in the food industry, including airlines. A promotional snack box to illustrate all the aspects of the business was designed, printed and co-packed at their two plants in Kent and Sussex and was distributed to some 250 visitors.
It is important to the airline team at Alexir to build relationships with clients and the show offered the perfect opportunity for face-to-face meetings over the two days; in fact over 100 visitors from 70 companies met and visited the team on the stand (up 20% on 2013). These visitors were from all over the world including Europe, Russia, USA, Africa, India, Middle and Far East. Interestingly 15 clients of Alexir also exhibited at the show lending credence to the significance of the show.
The Alexir Partnership displayed many examples of their extensive manufacturing capabilities on the stand which included a carton board modified atmosphere pack (AlexiMAP®), an ovenable carton board hot entrees tray (AlexiPack®) and a carton board tray with a clip plastic lid (AlexiClip®). They also showed two new products which are the result of joint projects with associated packaging companies; a plastic meal box which fits directly onto the runners of the inflight service trolley and a trash compactor carton which also fits all standard inflight trolleys.
Furthermore, the Alexir Partnership launched the Cartocan® to the airline industry as the perfect carton board drinks container on board a flight. Cartocan® is the first and only cylindrical packaging format made from carton board to be filled aseptically with liquid and have a shelf life of 12 months unchilled. It lends itself perfectly to the airline industry as a very lightweight, environmentally-friendly drinks container for a wide range of liquids from coffee and tea through to wines, cocktails, water, juices and milk. The FSC carton board laminate construction is a great alternative to aluminium, glass and PET when weight is an issue and space is tight in the kitchens onboard. Also the extended shelf life helps to cut down on lead-time issues, storage and wastage.
