Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) April 30, 2014 -- The National Resident Matching Program(NRMP), a North America-based organization, is pleased to announce the launch of National Resident Matching Program International(NRMPI) to support high quality medical matching programs outside the United States and Canada. Since its inception in 1952, NRMP has matched medical school students and graduates to U.S. graduate medical education programs with fairness, integrity, and accuracy. Now, through its globally-focused subsidiary, NRMP can assist public and private agencies involved in graduate medical education achieve that same level of success.
“We are pleased to be able to expand the success of the NRMP to the international community,” said NRMP Executive Director Mona M. Signer. “Our Matches rely on state-of-the-art technology, and research on our mathematical algorithm was a basis for awarding the The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel in 2012. NRMPI is able to build new partnerships and design matching programs that meet the unique cultural and geographical needs of participants throughout the world.”
NRMP International employs the same web-based software and matching algorithm that have made the NRMP’s U.S. Matching Programs a success. The NRMP Main Residency Match® encompasses 40,000 applicants and 4,500 graduate medical education programs offering almost 30,000 positions. Under the umbrella of its Specialties Matching Service®, the NRMP manages more than 25 Fellowship Matches for more than 50 subspecialties.
The NRMP Match
The Match uses a computerized mathematical algorithm to align the preferences of applicants with the preferences of residency program directors in order to fill training positions available at U.S. teaching hospitals. Research on the NRMP algorithm was a basis for awarding The Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences in 2012.
