Shred Identity Theft Risk with Maclendon Wealth Management
Delray Beach, FL (PRWEB) April 24, 2014 -- Members of the Delray Beach community are invited to come shred their old documents and storage devices for free at the “Ready, Set—Shred” event on Thursday, May 8, 2014, sponsored by local financial advisory firm, Maclendon Wealth Management.
The two-hour shredding event will help attendees reduce their risk of identity theft by destroying documents that contain personal information such as account numbers, passwords and Social Security numbers. Participants will have the opportunity to safely shred their materials in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

In addition to helping the Delray Beach community protect itself from identity theft, the event will be an educational experience. According to CNN, an American becomes a victim of identity theft every two seconds. In 2013 alone, citizens lost $18 billion to fraud. By understanding the importance of document disposal, people can proactively prevent the theft of their personal information—and the financial fraud that results.
Those who plan to attend are encouraged to bring documents, hard drives and disks for shredding. Storage devices, staples, clips, rubber bands and similar items can all be safely shredded, so there is no need to remove them prior to the event.
