John Tracy Clinic, the renowned center for deaf children and their families, is pleased to announce a new preschool program for hearing children. The Reggio-inspired program is designed to serve 10 preschoolers age three to five, building on JTC’s 75 years of enriching educational services to children and their families.

Building on our 75 years of experience teaching deaf children to listen and speak, JTC is pleased to announce that we are expanding our services to children with hearing. This third classroom at the Dickinson C. Ross Center for Education and Innovation will provide the highest-quality preschool education and wrap-around child care to 10 children. The language-rich program is Reggio-inspired, and follows California standards for preschool. We strive to provide a developmental, hands-on, child-centered program that encourages critical thinking and active learning. Innovative features include a movement program, parent education, and access to developmental screenings.

JTC is conveniently located in the University Park neighborhood, adjacent to USC and within easy reach of downtown Los Angeles, Silverlake, Los Feliz, Echo Park, and West Adams. Our school is located on our secure and spacious grounds, with newly updated classrooms and ample outdoor playspace. All teachers hold bachelors or masters degrees in education. The school also benefits from serving as the lab school for JTC’s graduate education program which is offered in collaboration with Mount. St. Mary’s College.

The application period for the inaugural class is May 1, 2014 to August 1, 2014. Classes begin September 2nd. The preschool hours are 8:30 to 3:30, five days per week, with optional before and after-care available. Please contact Belle Garcia at 213-748-5481 to arrange a tour or to attend an open house.

JTC provides comprehensive audiology and education services for families with young children who have, or are at risk for, permanent hearing loss, including infant hearing screening, preschool and parent education. With campuses in Los Angeles and Long Beach, JTC also offers an international program and an accredited Master’s Degree program.
