Cazenovia, NY (PRWEB) April 25, 2014
Cazenovia College officials recently received approval from the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) to offer a completely online format of courses leading to Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor-Trainee (CASAC-T) certification.
This 350-hour program is comprised of 11 Cazenovia College online courses for which participants earn college credit. These courses allow one to meet the education and training requirements for the CASAC-T application in New York State. Online courses are scheduled to begin May 21, 2014 for interested students and professionals.
CASAC certification is specifically designed for individuals to work in an area related to alcohol and substance abuse treatment. With CASAC certification, one could work in an inpatient rehabilitation center, a halfway house, an outpatient addiction program, an assessment and referral program or in adolescent treatment.
Students who complete the 350 hours of education and training through certified education and training providers are eligible to submit the CASAC/CASAC-Trainee application for approval to the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS).
