LEGCOMM: 1st Annual Legislative Communication Conference Will Take Place This Summer in Montreal
Montreal, Quebec (PRWEB) April 27, 2014 -- LEGCOMM, the 1st Annual Legislative Communication conference will be held in Montreal, June 10-12, 2014.
Whereas most legislative conferences are focused along departmental boundaries, this three-day conference is aimed to cross-pollinate legislative departments’ way of working and to better understand how they can share information. In fact, the objective is to unite legislative staff from around the world to engage in discussions that inspire change and improve business processes, while offering a global perspective.
The sessions will revolve around four big themes: Innovation, Technology, Strategy and Collaboration. A selection of talented speakers has been invited to hold discussions on thought-provoking topics, such as accessibility, indexing in automation, mobile interface, publication linking and many more.
“We believe some of the best ideas are conceived among colleagues who share a common interest,” says Nic Côté, the organizer of the event. Legislative professionals from all departments are expected to attend: IT, Clerks, Broadcast and Hansard teams will gather under one roof in order to better understand how each is working and how information can be processed more efficiently.
Agenda
Tuesday, June 10th and Thursday, June 12th are dedicated to speakers’ presentations and group discussions. Tuesday sessions will focus mainly around official records (Hansard production, journals and minutes creation) while Thursday sessions will focus on anything related to webcasting and IT. Wednesday is a brainstorming and networking session filled with enriching team-building activities.
The return on investment
The main asset that this conference has to offer is obviously the sharing of knowledge as it allows for delegates from three different continents to exchange ideas. By the end of the three days, participants should understand that even though legislatives’ processes differ, there are common concepts that cross all boundaries.
