“Made in Newburgh” – Newburgh Illuminated Festival, June 20-22, 2014

The Newburgh Illuminated Festival is an event designed to celebrate the rich history of industry, commerce and culture in the City of Newburgh. "Made in Newburgh" will focus on innovators, artists, craftspeople, entrepreneurs and industries – small and large – that have shaped Newburgh throughout its history and that continue to enrich it today.

In the tradition of grand Newburgh exhibitions that once showcased the first lawn mowers - COLDWELL LAWN MOWERS or early electric cars - FRONTENAC AUTOS, and fine STROOCK WOOLENS, this year’s Newburgh Illuminated Festival intends to show off the amazing array of products that are and have been manufactured in the City of Newburgh.

Newburgh holds a special place in American manufacturing history as a city of innovation and invention. It was one of the earliest American cities to be electrified when Edison built its power plant and wired it up in 1884. The Newburgh Illuminated Festival draws its name from this transformational event and highlights the passion, innovation and excitement of the current day.

Music, crafts, exhibits, tours and artists’ work in the shape of five foot tall light bulbs, each celebrating the theme of “Made in Newburgh” are scheduled for the 3 day festival. Come celebrate its past, present and future and experience the hospitality and fun that makes the City of Newburgh the Queen City of the Hudson. Find out why others are now making the City of Newburgh their preferred place to create and make things!
