Dr. Barry Asmus to Join Arizona Christian University Faculty
Phoenix, Arizona (PRWEB) May 09, 2014 -- Arizona Christian University is delighted to announce the addition of Dr. Barry Asmus to the ACU faculty. Dr. Asmus will be teaching a course based on his recent book, coauthored with Dr. Wayne Grudem: "Poverty of Nations: A Sustainable Solution."
Senior Economist with the National Center for Policy Analysis, Dr. Asmus is an advocate of free market economics. He was named by USA Today as one of the five most requested speakers in the United States. He has been twice voted the Outstanding Professor of the Year and was also awarded the Freedom Foundation at Valley Forge Award for Private Enterprise Education.
Dr. Asmus has recently traveled to various countries to speak with government leaders about free-market, low tax, protected property rights and free trade policies. Among the nine books he has published, his book Crossroads: The Great American Experiment was nominated for an H.L. Mencken Award.
“We could not be more thrilled to add nationally renowned economist Dr. Barry Asmus to our distinguished faculty,” said Len Munsil, ACU President. “His commitment to Christian leadership and to demonstrating the biblical foundation for free market economics fits perfectly with the mission and Core Commitments of ACU.”
Dr. Asmus was the featured speaker at ACU’s 2012 Commencement Ceremony, and both he and Dr. Grudem spoke about "Poverty of Nations" at a recent ACU chapel.
"Amazing teachers engage their students. Dr. Barry Asmus will do more than engage students who take this course," said Dr. Paul Kremer, ACU's Dean of Academic Affairs. "He is a riveting speaker and will leave students completely captivated and inspired."
Dr. Asmus’ course will count as an upper-division elective for both the Political Science and Business Departments at ACU. The Business Department will also be offering the option to count the class as an Economics course.
Arizona Christian University is excited for the students to have the incredible opportunity to learn under Dr. Asmus.
