Defending Champion Karrie Webb and Surging Michelle Wie Highlight Early Commitments for the ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer

Numerous past champions and hall of famers set to tee it up May 26 through June 1 at Stockton Seaview Hotel and Golf Club.

World Golf Hall of Famer Karrie Webb returns to Atlantic City next month to defend her title in the ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer, joining a host of hall of famers and past champions expected to be in the field. Webb, currently ranked fifth in the Rolex Rankings, will be joined by other past champions including Stacy Lewis, Brittany Lincicome, Ai Miyazato, Cristie Kerr, Angela Stanford, and fellow hall of famer Se Ri Pak.

"I'm excited to return to the Shore in May to defend my title alongside a distinguished list of past champions,” said Webb. “It would be an honor to become the first back-to-back winner in tournament history in front of some of the best fans in professional golf."

Michelle Wie, coming off a recent victory at the LPGA LOTTE Championship in Hawaii, highlights a group of commitments that includes every LPGA tournament winner in 2014, including Paula Creamer, Lexi Thompson, Anna Nordqvist, Jessica Korda and Lydia Ko. Wie’s win was the third of her career and her first since graduating from Stanford in the spring of 2012. She enters the ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer on one of the hottest streaks of her career, recording top 15 finishes in every event but one in 2014.

The ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer will be held Monday, May 26 through Sunday, June 1. The 144-player field will compete over three rounds for a $1.5 million purse at Stockton Seaview Hotel and Golf Club in Galloway, New Jersey. The tournament will be televised on Golf Channel.
