Protect America's Pay It Forward Challenge at Michigan State University Won by Student Agency Ad Riot
East Lansing, MI (PRWEB) April 28, 2014 -- Michigan State University and home security giant Protect America have announced this year's winner of the charitable communications project "Pay It Forward" as student team Ad Riot. The Pay It Forward challenge tasks Advertising student groups with seeking a local nonprofit organizations who they take as a client for an entire semester. The student agencies perform advertising, marketing, public relations and communications work for the charities and present their work for consideration at the end of the semester.
Ad Riot's chosen nonprofit client was the Woldumar Nature Center, a Michigan nature reserve with over 5 miles of trails on 178 acres of woodland, prairie, river-side and pine forest. The students' fundraising and awareness campaign focused on vibrant and clever advertisements - using Woldumar's scenery to attract nature lovers and to build the Nature Center's social media presence.
Each Pay It Forward Challenge at Michigan State University has been spearheaded by Advertising professor Dave Regan, who first piloted the project after its creation by Protect America. "This has been my favorite project I have worked on in college," said Andrew Jenkin, a senior advertising major and member of AdRiot. "It gave us the freedom of working for a real client and gave us a lot of real-world experience that we can take with us after we graduate."
