Snow removal software company will use survey data to create second annual Snow Industry Benchmark Report.

HindSite Software today announced the release of their second annual Snow Industry Benchmark Survey. The survey, which takes about ten minutes to complete, asks a series of questions related to business practices, service business marketing practices, snow removal software usage, and business results.

In June, the company plans to release their second annual Snow Industry Benchmark Report detailing the survey results. The benchmark report is designed to help snow removal businesses better understand how they compare to their competitors and take steps to be more competitive.

“Our 2013 Snow Industry Benchmark Report was very well received last year,” explains HindSite’s Marketing Manager, Chad Reinholz. “Snow removal professionals enjoyed being able to benchmark their business results against those of their peers.”

Last year’s report included a number of interesting findings, including:

  •     Snow industry businesses see impressive margins, with 17% of respondents indicating their margins are in excess of 40%.
  •     Most snow contractors deliver other services when it’s not snowing, with just 5% indicating snow revenue is 100% of their business revenue.
  •     Snow removal contractors indicated sales and marketing were the areas in biggest need of improvement, and just 60% of respondents said they had a website.
  •     Optimism was high, with more than 90% of respondents expecting the economy to improve, and 64% expecting to increase spending on equipment and software in 2013.

“We’ve added some additional questions to the survey this year that will give the snow industry more information,” explains Reinholz. “Our goal is to share knowledge with the average snow removal contractor so they can better understand their market and improve their business.”
