(PRWEB) April 30, 2014 -- Tariq Drabu is a leading Manchester born and educated dentist and specialist oral surgeon. Tariq Drabu was talking about the recent article published in the Dental Tribune website about mouth cancer waiting times. The full article can be read here.
Tariq Drabu said “Studies in the United Kingdom show that patients are waiting longer times to visit their doctor when noticing signs of mouth cancer. Some patients are waiting months before seeking medical help. This is a concern, because the sooner help is sought, the sooner treatment can begin.”
Tariq Drabu went on to say “Any cancer that is caught early has a higher chance of recovery, the same applies with mouth cancer. It is important for patients to know the signs and symptoms of this disease and get the medical attention they need as quickly as possible to reduce long term effects. Some of the symptoms include mouth ulcers that will not heal and problems swallowing, just to name a few.”
Tariq Drabu closed is saying “Educating patients is the best way to ensure that they seek the help they need within a few days of noticing symptoms. Once in the system, treatment is offered quickly, increasing the chance of a recovery. The symptoms on mouth cancer differ from patient to patient, some may experience red or white spots on their mouth lining or tongue, while others may have an ulcer which does not heal after a few weeks. A hoarse voice, swelling in the mouth, tooth loss and pain when swallowing are also all possible signs of cancer. Patients should seek help even if they do not think that there is a problem. The cancer treatments are offered quickly these days, ensuring patients do not wait long from diagnosis to treatment.”
