Taylor Morrison Offers Baby Boomers New 55+ Communities Tailored to Fit Today’s Active Lifestyle
Scottsdale, Arizona (PRWEB) April 29, 2014 -- The grand opening of the 55+ focused Skyestone in the Denver suburb of Broomfield marks the beginning of a new chapter for homebuilder Taylor Morrison – developing communities that appeal to today’s baby boomer buyer.
Throughout the country, the homebuilder is drawing up plans to answer the demand created by baby boomers who are looking for something more in their next homes.
“We’ve always felt that our customers deserve to live in the homes and communities that reflect who they are,” said Sheryl Palmer, President and CEO of Taylor Morrison. “Today’s 55+ buyer is passionate about how they see their next home. That’s why we’ve spent the time listening to them as they told us what matters most to them.”
Taylor Morrison has taken those conversations and turned them in to the rough sketches that have since formed the plans of communities like Bonterra at Woodforest in Houston and Skyestone in Denver.
The first of these age-qualified communities to debut is Skyestone, which opened to the public on February 15 and reflects more than two years' worth of research and development of a community tailored to Denver’s 55+ population.
“We looked at all of the things homebuilders typically consider when building a community and then we asked ourselves, ‘how can we make this even better?’” Palmer said. “The answer was simple: design a community to serve the people who will call it home.”
In Skyestone’s case, that meant incorporating how Denver residents live, work and play – regardless of their age. Bordered by dedicated open space to the west of the community, Taylor Morrison extended that feel into the community, creating a series of paths and walking trails to give residents access to the outside world and offering a deeper connection with nature.
“When we’re finished, it will be possible for a Skyestone resident to walk out their front door and connect to a series of trails that can lead them all the way to Boulder,” Palmer said.
The builder’s new Houston community, Bonterra at Woodforest, is following the same model, creating a 55+ neighborhood that resonates with local homebuyers, turning prospective residents’ suggestions into the amenities and features of the community.
Bonterra answers a need for that has been missing in the area, Palmer said. Located north of the country’s fourth-largest metropolitan area, Bonterra at Woodforest will serve a population who has clamored for more 55+ options – to the extent that some have even relocated to neighborhoods on the other side of town in southwestern Houston.
“We’ve pulled many things from our conversations with today’s 55+ buyers,” Palmer said. “Above all else, what we’ve learned is that today’s buyer will not settle for a community that doesn’t reflect who they are or doesn’t listen to what they see as important. We’re taking these lessons and turning them into the next generation of 55+ living. These communities are perfect for people who want to live closer to their children and grandchildren and spend the time in getting to know their neighbors and even themselves.”
