Coffee Review Ranks Bird Rock Coffee Roasters' Guji Zone Coffee at 95 Points
La Jolla, Calif. (PRWEB) April 29, 2014 -- Industry coffee report, Coffee Review, recently ranked Bird Rock Coffee Roasters’ Ethiopia: Guji Zone coffee at 95 points. Bird Rock Coffee Roasters is the only roaster in San Diego to receive a score of 95 or higher, and out of 96 coffees reviewed nationwide, only nine received a score of 95 or above.
Coffee Review conducts blind cuppings and ranks coffees on a 100-point scale. The coffees are judged based on five different criteria, and Bird Rock’s Ethiopia: Guji Zone scored a 9 out of 10 for aroma, acidity, body and aftertaste, and received a 10 for overall flavor.
“We are proud that Coffee Review generously ranked our current Ethiopian offering at 95 points,” said Chuck Patton, owner of Bird Rock Coffee Roasters. “We work directly with farmers to source the finest possible coffee, and strive to bring out the best qualities in all of the varieties we roast.”
The Ethiopia: Guji Zone coffee was grown at over 1800 meters, and according to Coffee Review, was given the following assessment: “Crisply lush, extravagant. Dark chocolate, jasmine-like flowers, brandy, honey, layered fruit notes: kiwi, mango, banana. Sweetly tart, vivacious acidity; syrupy but lively mouthfeel. Long, resonant, flavor-saturated finish.”
In November 2013, Coffee Review also ranked Bird Rock’s Lennette Kenya at 94 points, and was also named one of the “Top 30 Coffees” for 2013. The Ethiopia: Guji Zone is currently available at Bird Rock’s pour-over bar, and a 12-ounce bag can be purchased in-store, or online for $17.99.
