Miss America Organization and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Celebrate $10 Million in Funds Raised
Salt Lake City, Utah (PRWEB) April 29, 2014 -- Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and the Miss America Organization today announced contestants raised a record $1.6 million in 2013. The confirmed total puts fundraising at $10,613,769 since 2007 for both the children’s charity and the Miss America Scholarship Program.
“Our partnership with the Miss America Organization is one where two futures truly benefit,” said John Lauck, president and CEO of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “Contestants competing at local, state and national levels all commit to raising funds and needed awareness not only for scholarship needs, but also for the local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in their community or state. We’re thankful to have these public representatives address the need for charitable support at our member hospitals nationwide.”
“We are so proud to partner with such a remarkable organization as Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and the miracles they achieve each and every day,” said Sam Haskell, Chairman and CEO of the Miss America Organization. “We are also proud of all the incredible young women who compete in our program, as well as the many volunteers that have tirelessly supported this partnership and helped us to achieve this amazing milestone.”
Leading awareness initiatives is Miss America 2014 Nina Davuluri, who serves as the charity’s National Goodwill Ambassador — a post all Miss Americas have held since 1989. Davuluri has committed much of her year to visiting member hospitals across the U.S., speaking at fundraising events and engaging with the charity’s partners.
