Announcement: BluesGuitar.com Releases “Blues Rhythm Guitar Riff in the Style of La Grange by ZZ Top - Blues Guitar Lesson”
(PRWEB) April 30, 2014 -- A “riff” is the catchy part of a song that sticks in your head. One of the most recognizable guitar riffs of all time is “Smoke on the water” by Deep Purple.
“This riff is basically an A Blues”, says MacLennan. Jon demonstrates this riff using the hybrid picking technique as follows: make an A Major chord by baring your first finger across the 2nd, 3rd and 4th strings with your first finger and picking the 3rd and 4th strings simultaneously with the 2nd and 3rd fingers on your right hand. After each pluck Jon says you have to release the pressure on the strings with your left hand so the notes are muted. This sequence is repeated a few times and followed by playing the open 5th string to the 3rd fret with first finger back to the open string to the 5th fret with 3rd finger, all done with the guitar pick. Jon continues by demonstrating an alternate way to play this riff. Guitar TAB’s are available at BluesGuitar.com.
