Fast vs Free Shipping Infographic
For any online seller, it’s an important question….do my customers want fast shipping, or free shipping. This is the question we wanted to answer.

Traverse City, MI (PRWEB) April 30, 2014

eFulfillment Service, one of the nation’s leading ecommerce order fulfillment companies, has just released a new infographic entitled, Fast vs. Free Shipping - Which is More Important to Consumers?

“For any online seller, it’s an important question….do my customers want fast shipping, or free shipping,” says Steve Bulger, Sales & Marketing Manager at eFulfillment Service. “This is the question we wanted to answer.”

The infographic from eFulfillment Service compiles results from a number of studies that looked at the ecommerce shopping and order fulfillment behaviors among a large group of consumers.

“Recently, there’s been a lot of hype surrounding same-day delivery, primarily from the media and a handful of retailers,” adds Bulger. “But what we wanted to acknowledge was, what do the consumers actually want? To answer that, we looked at a variety of studies in order to gauge common interests among a wide range of consumers, and the data was unequivocal.”

The infographic includes data showing the shipping methods most often chosen by online shoppers, top reasons that consumers revisit ecommerce websites, the number of days that consumers are willing to wait for most purchases, as well as the average cost to qualify for free shipping among a variety of categories, including personal care, electronics, housewares, and office and books.

In the battle to see which shipping method is most preferred, eFulfillment Service chose a demolition derby theme for the infographic. “Winning a demolition derby takes persistence,” says Bulger. “And this was really the pattern of the studies that we looked at. Over and over again, consumers were saying the same thing, so we felt the theme was fitting. Plus, trucks smashing into each other is kind of fun.”

“There’s no doubt that fast delivery has its place in ecommerce, and even same-day delivery is a sought-after ship method in some cases,” concludes Bulger. “But what this infographic reveals is that, by and large, consumers shop online because they want a bargain, and most people are willing to wait in order to get it.”
