UNESCO Selects Extensis Universal Type Server to Manage Thousands of
Portland, Ore. (PRWEB) April 30, 2014 -- UNESCO, a specialized United Nations agency, selected Extensis’ Universal Type Server® to manage its library of 3,000 fonts used to create the organization’s design of reports, administrative papers and publications. Announced today by Extensis, UNESCO uses Universal Type Server to manage font distribution and font licenses used in its Paris-based Languages and Documents Division.
With a library of 3,000 fonts, it's imperative that UNESCO has a system to distribute fonts to their creative team, while maintaining efficiency and creativity. Keeping the team in sync and legal with the right fonts is critical.
Knowing that font compliance is imperative to its business, UNESCO selected Universal Type Server for its superior capabilities for managing this process. Additionally, UNESCO chose Universal Type Server for its ability to host its 3,000 fonts on a single server, while ensuring the team has access to the correct fonts when they need them.
According to Faraj Hadi, Network Administrator for the Conferences, Languages and Documents Unit for UNESCO France, “The introduction of Extensis’ Universal Type Server has allowed us to organize, standardize and streamline our entire font management process. We have also become more efficient.”
The simpler font server has also reduced IT problems by 80 percent. Universal Type Server allows workgroup administrators to grant or remove access to workgroup fonts, effectively controlling the number of individuals who consume font licenses, while avoiding conflict or duplication.
Hadi adds: “The software is particularly user-friendly. The set-up of a client takes us less than fifteen minutes, which represents a time saving of 70 percent.”
UNESCO is part of Extensis’ prestigious list of global customers who are using Universal Type Server, including Condé Nast, Future Publishing, Young & Rubicam, The Art Institutes and Conair.
