Tampa, FL (PRWEB) April 29, 2014

Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick LLP and Alps South will host a press conference for media and Pinellas County elected officials on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. at the Alps South manufacturing facility located at 2999 42nd Ave. N, St. Petersburg, FL 33714.

Speakers at the special press announcement will include: United States Congressman David Jolly, Alps South CEO Aldo Laghi, General Counsel and Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP attorney Ron Christaldi, Alps South VP of Marketing Kevin McLoone & Navy Veteran, Alps Consultant, and Certified Prothetist/Othrotist (CPO) Jim McElhiney.

On March 6, 2014, SLK attorney Ron Cristaldi scored a major victory for the Tampa Bay Business when a federal judge in the United States District Court Middle District of Florida Tampa Division awarded St. Petersburg’s ALPS South $15.5 million in damages in a patent infringement case (case #8:08-cv-1893-T-35MAP). After winning the 10-year legal battle that had threatened to shut down the Pinellas County-based international bio-tech company and halted its research and development efforts, Alps South is now increasing staff and is ready to launch two new industry changing products. Navy veteran and amputee Jim McElhiney will demonstrate these products at this event.

i-force – A device fabricated into the prosthesis of new amputees that will communicate via smart-phone app to the user and the Certified Prosthetist, which recommends sock ply management for volume fluctuations the amputees will see throughout the day and over time. Ultimately the i-force reduces/prevents ill-fitting sockets and pressure related complications that are not easy to overcome especially for poor vascular users.

Neural Control Interface – A liner interface that picks up the neural signals at the muscle belly to help intuitively control the prosthesis.
