Burbank, CA (PRWEB) May 01, 2014
The kids from Adam Sandler (Grown Ups, The Wedding Singer) and Drew Barrymore’s (50 First Dates, Grey Gardens) upcoming movie Blended have teamed up with The Los Angeles Chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers to support the sixth annual “Bowling For Rhinos” event. Kyle Red Silverstein (Lift, Grey’s Anatomy), Braxton Beckham (Silver Linings Playbook), Emma Fuhrmann (The Magic of Belle Isle), and Alyvia Alyn Lind (Dark Skies) will bowl to raise money to support the event on May 10, 2014.
Blended (Warner Bros, May 23) was shot in South Africa. While filming the movie, Kyle Red Silverstein (who plays Drew Barrymore’s son in the movie) learned a great deal about the poaching problem in South Africa. The kids’ goal is to educate people about the atrocities of rhino poaching and raise money to help stop this crime.
When Kyle was asked how he learned so much, he replied, “The crew was made aware of the situation while filming a game drive scene. We had to follow certain rules and weren’t allowed to mention a rhino sighting on walkie-talkies as poachers monitor audio transmissions. Once poachers know where the rhinos are, they’ll come and kill the animals and cut off their horns.”
With the help of a social media campaign https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BN7Qw7g98E attendance at the event is almost at full capacity. Once all the bowling lanes are closed, the kids will remind people that they can still donate on the “Bowling for Rhinos” website http://www.aazklosangeles.org
May 10 (Saturday), 6 p.m. – 12 midnight, this fun-filled annual fundraiser organized by the L.A. Chapter of the American Association of Zoo Keepers has raised more than $167,000 in direct support of rhinoceros conservation.
Festivities include a silent auction, opportunity drawings, food, costumes—and, of course, bowling. This year's event will be at Jewel City Bowl, 135 S Glendale Ave, Glendale, CA on May 10. Participants will receive a signed Blended movie poster from the Blended cast kids.
