David B. Peel of Peel Law Firm in Millington, Tennessee is pleased to announce the 2014-15 recipient of the Tricia M. Peel Scholarship Fund is Lydia Ruth Kaercher of Bartlett, Tennessee. Lydia Kaercher will be a sophomore at Union University, in Jackson, Tennessee, this fall where she will continue to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Nursing with the intent to go into pediatrics.
A previous Tricia M. Peel Scholarship winner, she has been also been awarded the Dean’s Scholarship by Union University, as well as the Hope Scholarship of Tennessee, and the Tennessee Scholars recognition. She is enrolled in the General Honors program at Union. Last fall, she was on one of four teams representing Union’s freshman honors class, chosen to present at a conference on Soren Kierkegaard hosted by Baylor University. Over spring break, Lydia was on a team of eighteen students from Union who volunteered at Orphanage Emmanuel in Honduras.
This summer she plans on volunteering at Pediatric Consultants, a children’s health clinic. Also, she has been selected to serve as a Life Group Leader next fall. Life Groups are a University ministry which introduces incoming freshman to the social and spiritual life at Union. Her favorite verse is Matthew 19:26, “Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.’”
David Peel of Peel Law Firm established the scholarship fund to honor his wife, Tricia M. Peel, early in their marriage. “I wanted to honor her by helping others. She received a small scholarship from Bellevue when she was in nursing school. When I resolved some significant injury cases, I set up a fund in her name to give back to others,” Peel explained. Bellevue Foundation, Cordova, Tennessee, administrates the Fund. Peel Law Firm handles significant cases involving truck accidents, deaths, disabilities, and car accidents.
