Powell, Polaris and Race 101 Team for ARCA Run at Talladega
Winston Salem, NC (PRWEB) May 01, 2014 -- Race 101 is proud to announce that veteran short track racer Kevin Powell will pilot the team's entry for this weekend's International Motorsports Hall Of Fame 200 at Talladega Superspeedway for the ARCA Racing Series Presented By Menard's. Powell will compete at Talladega for the first time in his long racing career with primary sponsorship from Polaris on the #3 machine prepared by veteran team owner Tony Blanchard.
"What a great opportunity this is for me, particularly at this point in my career," said Powell. "I have dreamed about running superspeedway races since I was 16 years old. But I have to say at 46, I had almost given up on that dream. ARCA is such a great series and Tony [Blanchard] and all of the guys on the Race 101 team have worked so hard to get us a great car heading to Talladega."
Now with Polaris on board the Race 101 entry at Talladega Superspeedway this weekend, a unique cross-promotional opportunity has been created with their already existing relationship with Kevin Powell Motorsports. Kevin Powell Motorsports, through its three North Carolina locations in Winston-Salem, Greensboro, and Charlotte, is ranked as the #12 Polaris ATV dealer in the United States.
"I'm incredibly proud to be representing Polaris at one of the coolest racetracks in the world this weekend," said Powell. "The reason I chose to make my ARCA debut at Talladega was to make the biggest offer in the history of our dealerships...a Polaris Sportsman 400 H.O. for only $3,990.00."
Powell steps into the Race 101 entry normally piloted by up-and-coming racer Karl Weber. After finishing 8th in the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Model points standings last year, the young Indiana native has made the move over to ARCA in 2014. In two starts so far this season, Weber managed a career best finish of 14th in the series' most recent event at Salem Speedway. But, due to a lack of superspeedway experience for Weber, Powell will step into the Race 101 entry this weekend at Talladega.
"We have been running the ARCA Series with Karl Weber, but Karl is too young to run the superspeedways and we were able to put a deal together for Kevin to drive for us at Talladega," said team owner Tony Blanchard. "I'm really excited to have Kevin drive for us this weekend. He has tested and raced my Super Late Model a few times. He's a true racer! He gets up on the wheel and gets everything there is out of a race car."
Live coverage of this weekend's International Motorsports Hall Of Fame 200 can be seen on Saturday, May 3 starting at 11 AM Eastern on Fox Sports 1.
