YMCA of Greenwich Chooses the Neptune Benson UV Disinfection System for State of the Art Air and Water Quality

Ultraviolet Disinfection systems combat the corrosive by-product of chlorine disinfection, known as chloramines. Chloramines contribute to the odor, irritation, athletic asthma, and enhanced corrosion at indoor pools. Chloramines are also responsible for drying out skin and causing “red eye.”
The 50M pool at the YMCA of Greenwich has been a hotspot for water activities. Every ounce of water is utilized and enjoyed. Health codes regulate the maximum permissible levels of chloramines, which is often difficult to meet at high-end indoor pools. Chloramines escape the pool in the form of a corrosive gas, which degrades the facilities and is a respiratory and dermal irritant to the staff and patrons. The YMCA of Greenwich decided to reduce chloramines and improve air quality for its swimmers.
The Neptune Benson ETS-UV system has been installed and the results are incredible. Consistent readings of zero chloramines are being recorded daily.

UV not only controls harmful chloramines, but also highly disinfects chlorine tolerant pathogens responsible for 75% of all recreational water illnesses reported to the CDC. The CDC’s Model Aquatic Health Code includes recommendations for validated UV on all pools designed for children under the age of five and all therapy pools.
