New York, NY (PRWEB) April 30, 2014

SQ1.tv, pronounced "square one", announced plans today to launch its business television network this fall. The company is pursuing distribution deals with pay TV providers including major cable, satellite, and telco providers. All SQ1.tv programming will be available to authenticated subscribers of partner pay TV providers. The network will initially launch online with a selection shows accessible to paid subscribers to validate its programming.

"Business television is a much bigger market than what CNBC, Fox Business, and Bloomberg are currently tapping into. Business television can be about so much more than minute-by-minute coverage of stock markets," said Bhu Srinivasan, Founder and CEO of SQ1.tv. "We have the opportunity to reinvent business television."

SQ1’s founder is an experienced entrepreneur having built content brands in magazine publishing, gaming, financial content, and serves as an advisor to numerous start-ups. The company will be announcing several strategic partnerships in May.

SQ1 is built on the belief that business is a positive, aspirational, and creative pursuit for millions of Americans. Each SQ1 show looks to go inside a topic, business, or industry to explore in-depth its economics, operating details, people, and numbers.

The fall line-up includes:

SPORTS ECONOMICS: SQ1's series on sports is currently filming a story on The Business of the NFL. SQ1's production dives into the NFL as a central player in the dynamic between advertisers, TV networks, and cable distributors. From the importance of live programming to advertisers to the pricing power of sports television rights, the NFL is at the heart of the television ecosystem.

AMERICAN GRIT: Each episode in the series looks to explore places like the coal mines of West Virginia and the oil fields of North Dakota to see how the things we take for granted are produced. What are the economics of a coal mine? How much does it cost to drill an oil well? What is the role of railroads in moving raw materials around? AMERICAN GRIT explores the raw economics of America.

Other shows in development include:

DEALMAKER on the inner-workings of private equity;

WILDCATTER for the oil business;

THE FRANCHISE to explore franchise operations;

GREENLIGHT on the business of Hollywood;

BRAND BUILDER to understand great brands throughout history;

TERM SHEET on Silicon Valley start-up financing;

EXIT STRATEGY on how to sell a business;

For TRENDLINE, SQ1 recently released a short-documentary on The Bitcoin Phenomenon to test its platform with live viewers.
