WEDI to Host Congressional Luncheon Briefing on New Payment Model Implementation
Reston, VA (PRWEB) April 30, 2014 -- The Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI), the nation’s leading authority on the use of health IT, invites legislators and their staff to a policy luncheon concerning the progress industry is making toward the creation of payment models under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). This luncheon will be held on Wednesday, May 7 from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Russell Senate Office Building 188. Serving as a forum to generate ideas for overcoming barriers when implementing new payment models, policymakers will also learn about the 100 different types of new payment models currently available.
With the passage of the Affordable Care Act and the creation of Accountable Care Organizations, it is vital to future legislation that senators and their staff fully understand the various types of payment models that currently exist, how the industry is preparing for new payment models, as well as the current obstacles and possible solutions within the health IT environment.
“As WEDI members are comprised of some of the most progressive innovators within healthcare, we feel it is our responsibility as industry leaders to make policymakers aware of challenges both private and public sector organizations may come across when implementing new payment incentives,” said Devin Jopp, President and CEO of WEDI. “To ensure our country’s leadership is informed on the hundreds of payment models available, this briefing will serve as an outlet for various stakeholders to come together and provide guidance for the industry on new payment model implementation.”
Confirmed speakers include Michael Policarpio, Director, Performance & Planning, Payment Innovation Strategy at WellPoint (Cali.); Randy Gaboriault, Chief Information Officer, Christiana Care Health System (Del.); and Nandan Kenkeremath, Vice President, Government Relations and Public Policy, QSI/NextGen Healthcare.
WEDI’s panel of experts will explore regulatory barriers, infrastructure challenges, lack of administrative bandwidth, and information gaps serving as challenges. Policymakers are encouraged to attend and share their thoughts during this in-depth conversation so that solutions can be outlined.
Space for this exclusive event is limited. Please RSVP to sholvey(at)wedi(dot)org.
