This test also went beyond the clicks to evaluate the quality of traffic as gauged by average time on page where again Max Connect Marketing out shined the competition by over one minute.

The client (who shall remain confidential) created the banner ads and targeting parameters, and then gave equal budget to MCM and another major competitor who fulfills digital services for dozens of clients. “It was an interesting process as the client had unsuccessfully tried digital display advertising in the past and was wary of any future success that it might deliver. It took some time to get expectations set and the campaign set up because another company was promising to deliver the same results as us,” commented Kyle Nelson, Partner at MCM. “In the end, the client decided to give us both the same budget, parameters, and ads so they could really tell who would emerge as the best,” added Nelson.

Results of the two competing companies were evident after the first week. Max Connect Marketing had already out paced the competition by a large margin. By month end, MCM had delivered 698 new unique page views to the clients’ website while the competitor delivered a mere 235. In addition, average time on page was 4:06 for traffic delivered by MCM and only 3:05 for traffic delivered by the competition.

Further analysis also revealed that over 100 views delivered by the competition was from out of state IP addresses which were not part of the targeting parameters. Of the top 20 cities that clicked on banner ads, Max Connect Marketing was responsible for 16, the competitor delivered the other 4; 3 of which were out of state.
