Assura Obtains Women's Business Enterprise (WBENC) Certification
Ashland, Virginia (PRWEB) May 02, 2014 -- Assura, Inc. an award-winning Governance, Risk, and Compliance services firm, achieved certification by the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) on April 22, 2014 as a Women Business Enterprise (WBE). WBENC was founded in 1997 and is the largest third-party certifier of businesses owned, controlled, and operated by women in the United States.
“The WBENC certification is the gold standard certification for corporations and government organizations who want to improve their supplier diversity and benefit from using women-owned businesses,” said Karen Cole, Assura’s CEO.
Obtaining the WBENC certification is a lengthy and involved process that evaluates all aspects of the business. It is a rigorous, multi-faceted business application and review process that is conducted by a trained Certification Review Committee to ensure that women-owned businesses applying for certification are 51 percent owned, operated, and controlled by a woman or group of women and is properly managed. This stipulation is a requirement upon which WBENC was founded and is a key service to Corporate Members interested in doing business with women-owned businesses.
When asked about the impact of this certification to Assura’s business, Cole said, “We see significant potential to build relationships with major corporations that want to leverage Assura’s expertise in cybersecurity, business continuity, enterprise risk management, and compliance and who want independent assurance of our company’s ongoing sustainability.”
