The Midland Group Announces Its MidlandCARES Initiative
Lawrence, KS (PRWEB) April 30, 2014 -- As part of its ongoing efforts to improve the communities it serves, The Midland Group is launching its MidlandCARES™ program on May 1, 2014. The goal of the program is to encourage every employee of the company to become involved in a volunteer cause through company-sponsored days off for service at their preferred non-profit organizations. The company will also select one employee as the ‘Outstanding MidlandCARES™ Volunteer of the Year’ award, and will make a charitable donation to that employee’s volunteer organization.
MidlandCARES™ stands for “Community Appreciation and Responsible Employee Service.” The initiative was inspired by a feature in February issue of HFM (Health Financial Management) journal on Laura Jones, marketing director for The Midland Group. Jones, a volunteer with Pilots 'N Paws, was featured in the publication for her work as a volunteer pilot transporting high-euthanasia-risk dogs and cats to rescue groups and new homes.
“Our company is built on service and we strive to hire employees who are innately generous and caring.” said Roger McCollister, CEO of The Midland Group. “Each of our employees possess unique talents, skills and interests. As part of our charitable mission, we encourage our employees to apply those skills to help other non-profit organizations in their communities.”
The Midland Group is owned and controlled by The Independent Charitable Trust – a non-profit organization whose mission is to make grants to other charitable organizations. Each month, The Midland Group donates a portion of its revenue to the Trust, and was founded with the mission of improving access to healthcare for poor and disadvantaged people. This charitable mission sets the company apart from its competitors by creating a purpose beyond profit. By encouraging each of its employees to make a difference in their communities, The Midland Group is supporting its overall mission.
