Enriching Designs Help Fuel Goodwill’s New Los Angeles Community Center
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 02, 2014 -- Nicky Kaplan Interiors (NKI), is proud to announce the completion of the Community Enrichment Center for Goodwill of Southern California which officially opened May 1st in Glassel Park. Nicky Kaplan, Principal of NKI, was commissioned as the lead interior architect for the new fully renovated 135,000 sq.ft. landmark complex that has been 2 years in making.
NKI’s challenge was how to take a rectangular box, (formerly a Home Depot) and turn it into a space to house different functions such as a retail & outlet store, café, career development center, and an event space for community meetings and government agencies. Kaplan focused on large graphics and sweeping architectural gestures to create a colorful, fresh space. Durability and budget were a big concern so materials had to be indestructible and money had to be used wisely to create grand gestures that would have the most impact. “I am honored and proud to have been part of this wonderful and important contribution to the community of Los Angeles. Design is such an important piece in creating a space that inspires and enriches the lives of others” says Ms. Kaplan.
