Jonathan Goodman, president of Halyard Consulting, discussed ways to optimize a YouTube business channel on his recent podcast. He provided numerous tips with step-by-step explanations on how to market the channel and gain more followers and potential customers.
This podcast builds on a recent one Goodman did on how to build out a YouTube business channel. In this second installment, the focus is on optimizing your channel for search and the ability to market to the right audience. He provided guidelines on the title, description, and selecting the proper category. He also discussed making it possible for others to embed the channel in their web pages. He explained the importance of thumbnails, tags, and creating captions.
Goodman then spent a good portion of his podcast on how to build an audience. He discussed annotations, channel trailers, and playlists as well as the visual components of the channel such as the background and artwork. He explained the importance of understanding analytics and which ones are most important to help businesses build a strategy.
Goodman's final thoughts on marketing were on the importance of being persistent and sticking with a schedule and promoting it through all of the social media channels. Over time business owners can become successful with their YouTube channels if they don't give up.
