Florida Hospital Tampa Honors Doctors at the 2014 Greater Temple Terrace Chamber of Commerce “Medical Hero Awards”

Dr. Charles Cox was the recipient of the Healthcare Professional Lifetime Achievement Award and Dr. Charles Lambert was the recipient of the Healthcare Professional Research Award. The Greater Temple Terrace Chamber of Commerce and Florida Hospital Tampa hosted the 3rd Annual Medical Hero Award ceremony last night at the TPepin’s Hospitality Center. These awards are presented to physicians who demonstrate personal dedication to their patients, contribute to the community’s welfare and seek ways to provide innovative care in the Greater Temple Terrace and Tampa community.

Dr. Charles Cox is a Professor of Surgery and began his career at the University of South Florida (USF) in 1983. He is a world-renowned clinician, surgeon, researcher, author and speaker. In 2011, he was awarded the Health Care Hero’s Lifetime Achievement Award for the Tampa Bay Business Journal. He was Governor at Large for the American College of Surgeons and Past President for the Florida Chapter of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Cox actively practices at USF Breast Health and Florida Hospital Tampa. Dr. Charles Lambert serves as the Medical Director, Medical Research Director and Quality Outcomes Director at Florida Hospital Pepin Heart Institute and the Dr. Kiran C. Patel Research Institute. He earned his Doctorate of Philosophy in Physiology and his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Florida. He also received his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts.
