Wildlife Harmonies Announces Partnership with the Amphibian Survival Alliance
Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) May 06, 2014 -- Wildlife and marine artist, Steven Shachter is pleased to announce Wildlife Harmonies, a Philadelphia-based organization that promotes the importance of protecting wildlife through illustrations, has been named a global partner of the Amphibian Survival Alliance.
Through its new partnership, Wildlife Harmonies hopes to become an integral part of the Alliance's youth education initiative. The Alliance is currently planning to establish a youth-oriented website that will be a fun and educational resource for children to increase awareness of the declining amphibian population.
According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species, nearly one-third of the world's amphibian species are known to be threatened or extinct and as many as 159 amphibian species may already be extinct.
“Amphibian populations have been declining at a faster rate than most other creatures,” said Shachter. “Unlocking the secrets of this decline could lend important insights into the future of our own species. We look forward to contributing educational and visually-stimulating content to the Alliance’s site. We welcome this as an opportunity to do our part to inspire and inform the new generation, who will be the next generation of stewards of the Earth to keep amphibian species alive.”
The Amphibian Survival Alliance, the world’s largest partnership for amphibian conservation, has developed a partnership of organizations consisting of important internationally-acclaimed affiliations such as zoos, environmental organizations and corporations to continue to grow awareness of the Alliance and the need of maintaining the populations of amphibian species.
"This exciting new partnership with Wildlife Harmonies will help the Amphibian Survival Alliance increase awareness and knowledge about the ecological and cultural values of amphibians among youth,” said Don Church, Executive Director of the Amphibian Survival Alliance. “Steven's unique, educational and inspiring work engages an entirely new and younger audience that may have never considered rallying around amphibian conservation efforts and we look forward to developing a series of projects with Steven.”
