Lineup Announced for College Women’s Leadership Conference

Chelsea Clinton, vice chair of the Clinton Foundation, will be a featured speaker at this year’s National Conference for College Women Student Leaders (NCCWSL) at the University of Maryland, College Park. She joins an esteemed list of newsmakers and high-profile speakers who have participated in the conference, which is presented each year by the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and NASPA—Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education.
The conference, which turns 30 years old next year, has helped thousands of college and university women develop leadership skills by providing networking opportunities with other student leaders and time to interact with women leaders.
“Every year we have an incredible lineup of speakers and awardees,” said AAUW Executive Director and CEO Linda D. Hallman, CAE. “This year, we welcome a former astronaut and shuttle commander, a college president, trailblazers, entrepreneurs, and Chelsea Clinton. All these distinguished women are newsmakers and thought leaders in their respective fields. They have made their mark on the world, and we know that anyone who comes to our conference will be inspired to do the same.”
In addition to Clinton, students will hear from the 2014 Women of Distinction Awardees. The June 5 awards ceremony honors trailblazing journalist and author Hattie Kauffman; entrepreneur Lily Liu; former astronaut Pamela Ann Melroy; president of Montgomery College in Maryland DeRionne P. Pollard; and founder and president of Smith and Company, a strategic and crisis communications firm, Judy Smith, the inspiration behind the hit show Scandal. The closing speaker, Deanna Zandt, is an expert on using technology to change the world, having advised the White House on digital strategy and public engagement.
Nearly 1,000 college and university students from around the world will attend the conference to continue on their path to becoming leaders and making a difference in their communities. NCCWSL provides students with skill-building workshops, networking, and volunteer opportunities as well as connections with inspiring speakers, graduate schools, and potential employers.
