Marathon Health, Inc. today announced its selection to provide onsite population health management services for employees of Chatham County, Ga. Through the partnership, Marathon Health will provide the services to 1,400 Chatham County employees using Marathon Health’s MedicalHome@Work™ total population health management model, which includes primary care, health assessments, health coaching, and disease management.
Chatham County’s goals in implementing onsite health services include increasing participation in primary and preventive care services across its employee base, improving health risk management of employees, and reducing its overall costs relative to healthcare. After an extensive search, Chatham County officials voted to partner with Marathon Health and its healthcare model that moves away from ‘sick care’ toward a solution focused on the whole person.
“Our goal in offering onsite healthcare is to provide a great benefit for our employees while improving productivity and driving down costs,” said Michael Kaigler, Assistant County Manager. “We have found a partner in Marathon Health that shares our vision about introducing innovative ways to energize employees about their health.”
Onsite healthcare is a growing industry. Approximately 25-30 percent of companies now provide onsite health services to their employees, up about 50 percent since 2000, according to global consulting firm Towers Watson.
Marathon Health Executive Vice President Jeff Shea said the total population health management works for employers because it helps employees take charge of their own health, and healthier employees are happier and more productive.
“Chatham County joins other progressive employers from across the country who clearly want to lead by example and improve the culture of health,” Shea said. “We are fortunate to have them as a partner.”
