“Where looking at a Hendrix secret here, this is a little string jumping while bending thing,” says MacLennan, “it’s a cool thing to practice and see if you can get it down.” Jon demonstrates this cool bending lick as follows; start on the 15th fret of the 2nd string with 2nd finger and bend it up one whole step and then the 15th fret of the 3rd string with first finger. Then descend the “blues scale” starting on the 15th fret of the 3rd string to the 14th fret to the 12th fret, all with first finger, to the 14th fret of the 4th string with 3rd finger to the 12th fret with first finger and then back to the 14th fret with the 3rd finger to finish off the lick. Jon says you should practice this lick on different strings and in different keys. Guitar TAB’s are available for this cool blues bending lick at BluesGuitar.com.
