Announcement: BluesGuitar.com Releases “Blues Guitar Riff in the Style of `Chicken Shack´ by Jimmy Smith”
(PRWEB) May 02, 2014 -- “Were looking at Back at the Chicken Shack by Jimmy Smith”, says MacLennan, “it’s a great blues tune, super funky, one of my teachers, Jimmy Burrell, actually played on the track”. This riff is in the key of F originally, but the variation that Jon teaches in the key of G so you can play the organ line. Jon demonstrates this cool blues riff as follows; start with two notes of a G chord by playing the 3rd fret of the 3rd string with first finger and 5th fret of the 4th string with 3rd finger and following that by baring your third finger across the 3rd and 4th strings at the 5th fret and then the 6th fret of the 3rd string with first finger and 7th fret of the 4th string with 2nd finger and strum that with the tremolo picking technique and then back to baring the 5th fret again and finally ending the riff with a G Major chord. Next Jon repeats this same riff based off of the C Major chord and then back to the G Major chord and then finishes it off with a piano style lick at the end. Guitar TAB’s are available for this blues guitar lesson at BluesGuitar.com.
