‘The Book of Mormon’ to Anchor Broadway San Jose’s 2014-2015 Season
San Jose, CA (PRWEB) May 02, 2014 -- Broadway San Jose, a Nederlander Presentation, recently announced the eight shows in its 2014-15 season at an event attended by President's Club-level subscribers and community leaders at the Silicon Valley Capital Club.
From the creators of South Park and winner of nine 2011 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, “The Book of Mormon” will play a limited two-week engagement July 1-15, 2015. The New York Times called it "the best musical of this century" and Entertainment Weekly says it's "the funniest musical of all time."
The sixth Broadway San Jose season line-up includes “Cirque Dreams Holidaze,” a spectacular family show to be held over Thanksgiving week (November 25-30, 2014); the Bay Area premiere of the new Tony Award-winning revival of Rodgers + Hammerstein's “Cinderella” (March 3-8, 2015); the 2012 Tony Award winning Best Musical, “Once” (April 21-26, 2015); and “The Illusionists,” a Broadway-bound showcase of some of the world's most astonishing acts that has toured the world and dazzled audiences of all ages.
Season extra shows announced include “Jerry Seinfeld Live,” coming to San Jose for one night only on October 16, 2014, and available to Broadway San Jose subscribers before they go on sale to the public; and a one-weekend return engagement of “Rain: A Tribute to the Beatles,” March 27-29, 2015. Seats are also being held in the third week of Broadway's biggest blockbuster “Wicked,” which closes the 2013-2014 Broadway San Jose season, as an extra season add-on for new subscribers only (September 9-14, 2014).
"Our sixth season is about choices and variety," explained Broadway San Jose general manager Nanci Williams. "We believe the addition of three strong add-on choices to a five-show package that includes Tony-Award winning musicals from 2011, 2012 and 2013 make for a season filled with great entertainment for the whole family."
Broadway San Jose’s 2014-15 season begins in September 2014 with the third week of “Wicked” and runs through July 2015 with “The Book of Mormon.” All performances are held at the 2,700-seat San Jose Center for Performing Arts, a mid-century modern architectural showcase at the corner of Park Avenue and Almaden Boulevard in downtown San Jose.
Broadway San Jose is a partnership between the Nederlander organization of New York and Team San Jose, the managing entity for San Jose's publicly-held performance venues and civic centers.
